Shoes ... everybody's got to have 'em, but while some people are satisfied with just a few pairs others seem to need closets full. What causes this shoe collecting addiction? Perhaps it's because there are so many interesting, beautiful and fun shoes out there!

It's true, shoes can be either fun or functional, or perhaps even both but one thing is for sure - you want to buy shoes that will be comfortable, appropriate for the occasion and durable. While you can get some decent discount shoes, it's probably in your best interest to spend the money for good quality shoes because these are the shoes that will last you year in and year out.

When you are shopping for shoes, you want to make sure you get ones that have a good fit and in order to that you need to be sure to wear the socks or stockings that you intend to wear with the shoes. You wouldn't wear thick winter socks to try on stiletto heels nor would you want to wear pantyhose to try on hiking boots, this will not give you an accurate feeling of how the shoe is going to fit on your foot.

When trying on shoes in the store, you want to get ones that are about a fingertips width past the end of your big toe. You don't want your toe jammed up against the front of the shoe but you don't want too much room either. Don't make the mistake of rushing in and buying "your size" without trying it on because the sizes can fit differently for different shoe styles and manufacturers.

You want to be sure to have a good variety of shoes, some sports shoes, some casual shoes and some dressy shoes so that you will be ready for any occasion.

Make sure that you can take good care of your shoes and they will last longer. Wipe the dirt and pollen off your shoes every day and store them neatly not jumbled in a pile. If you have leather shoes, be sure to clean the leather periodically as recommended.

Making sure you keep your shoes in good condition will ensure that you always have great looking shoes to wear no matter where you're going!
